The University of Central Florida (UCF) is a major metropolitan research university, providing the academic core for central Florida. The University enrolls approximately 42,000 students and is the fastest growing university in Florida. The main campus is located in northeastern Orlando, at the center of a growing, diverse community of nearly two million people. Area campuses are located in Brevard, Lake, and Volusia counties with many additional sites in the central Florida region. UCF provides academic leadership for the central Florida region through strategic partnerships with public and private sector organizations and corporations. The College of Education about 130 full-time faculty serving approximately 4,000 students in 12 undergraduate programs and 25 graduate programs. The College is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). In the most recent accreditation process, NCATE indicated no weaknesses and commended the College for its educational partnerships.
The Department of Teaching and Learning Principles invites applications for the following positions:
ESOL Instructor or Visiting Instructor. Primary responsibilities will be teaching TESOL courses to teacher education students and assisting the ESOL Coordinator and other faculty members as needed in administering the ESOL curriculum and faculty development program throughout the College of Education. Duties may also include supervision of student teachers.
ESOL Visiting Instructor (UCF Southern Region). This is a regional campus position. Primary responsibilities will be teaching TESOL courses to teacher education students at area campuses and instructional sites in Brevard and Osceola counties and supervising student teachers.
Qualifications: An earned Master’s Degree in ESOL/TESOL or an earned Master’s Degree in a closely related field with full ESOL endorsement is expected by time of hire; significant K-12 teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who also have post-secondary teaching experience. Positions may begin as early as January 2004.
Salary: $33,000 (Visiting Instructor), $39,000 (Instructor)
