Primary School in a Coastal City
Huludao is a seaside city of around 600,000 people, situated in the southwest of Liaoning province. The city is well-known for its beautiful beaches, which attract many visitors in the summer. The Huludao area is also rich in history, including the ancient town of Xingcheng, which still boasts its original city walls. The Great Wall meets the sea 2 hours south of Huludao at Shanhaiguan. While Huludao is still a very traditional Chinese city, it is big enough for foreigners to live comfortably, and now has western restaurants and department stores.
Our school is the only primary school that is attached to the Huludao Education Bureau. The school specializes in its bilingual teaching program. We are the recognized advanced bilingual teaching unit in Liaoning province. We have 30 classes, more than 1500 students and 78 teachers
Requirements and Benefits
Age: under 55 preferred
Gender: females are preferred
Major: BA degree required. preference given to English major and education training
Experience: have one year of teaching experience at least.
Nationality: USA, Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand (we cannot accept western born Chinese/Asians.)
Teaching workload is 20 English lessons per week, each of 40 minutes.
Teachers may be invited to participate in extra activities such as English corner and a performance put on by the school every year.
Students�ages range from 6 to 12 years old with a proficiency better than most primary schools in Huludao.
There are typically 40-56 students per class
Text books and course materials are provided. Teachers are encouraged to bring extra ideas materials and to the classroom.
Classroom or office equipment available includes tape recorder, projector, VCR, Audio-visual lab, computer, cassettes, scanner, and printer.
Monthly salary (after tax.): Teacher with BA degree: 5000 RMB, Teacher with a higher degree 5500 RMB
Airfares: we offer teachers round-trip ticket reimbursement for one year contract of up to 6000 RMB.
Accommodation: Average Chinese apartment with 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Facilities are not shared. Computer with isdn/adsl telephone device, color TV, AC, refrigerator, washing machine, gas stove, 24 hour hot water, cooking utensils (including plates, glasses, pot, pan, spoons, knives, forks, chopsticks, etc ), a set of furniture (double bed with mattress, mosquito set, pillow, sheet, blanket, beddings etc.), and western-style toilet. Teacher pays monthly water, gas, electricity, internet, telephone. Accommodation is located 5-10 minutes walk from school.
Paid holidays and other benefits: 3 days for May Day, 3 days for national holidays, 2 for New Year, and 3 for Christmas. Winter vacation (Jan 15th-Mar1st) is half paid
Any travel bonus of 2200 RMB for one year.
A domestic traveling allowance of up to 300 RMB to allow for travel to Huludao if invited.
A Chinese assistant teacher is provided for each foreign teacher.
Foreign teachers will be treated as normal full-time faculty members.
